Syracuse, N.Y., is the only city in the Northeast to host the exhibition’s 53 masterpieces

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Everson Museum of Art will present the exhibition Turner to Cézanne: Masterpieces from the Davies Collection, National Museum Wales, for a limited time this fall, making Syracuse, N.Y., the only city in the Northeast to host the exhibition.
Turner to Cézanne includes 53 extraordinary works of art by 29 world-renowned artists, including Cézanne, Renoir, Monet, van Gogh, Turner and Pissarro. The exhibition is on its first tour in the United States and is traveling to only five cities in the country. It will be on display at the Everson Museum of Art from Oct. 9, 2009, through Jan. 3, 2010.
“When people hear the names Monet, van Gogh, Tuner and Cézanne with the words ‘New York,’ they automatically think New York City. We want people to know that Upstate New York hosts world-class art, too,” said Steven Kern, the Everson Museum of Art Director. “By bringing Turner to Cézanne to Syracuse, we’re helping make art masterpieces more accessible to all New Yorkers, and we hope our neighbors from across the state and beyond come to Syracuse to see this exhibition.”
The visually stunning Turner to Cézanne explores the innovations that shaped 19th century art. It features modern art from the Romantic naturalism of Turner to the Impressionism of Monet and van Gogh and the Post-Impressionism of Cézanne. It is considered one the National Museum of Wales’ most remarkable treasures and one of the great British art collections of the 20th century.
