Abraham Lincoln had a bad case of chronic b.o.
It's true. He didn't like to bathe because the tubs they used back then were built so small that the 6'4" President stayed clear of them until people began passing out when he entered a room.

This is just one of the fascinating facts you will learn when you visit the Seward House on South Street in Auburn.

The Seward House was, of course, the residence of William Seward, who was the Secretary of State during the Civil War, and is probably best known for purchasing Alaska, which was dubbed "Seward's Folly."

What may not be as well known is that he was one of the leading opponents of slavery and played an instrumental role in it's demise.

Paying the $6 admission is no folly as you will be mesmerized by the Federal and Tuscan style architecture, the original furniture and decorations, and even some ancient artifacts, not to mention the intriguing background stories told by the well informed tour guides.

If you like traveling, go to the Seward House where you will be traveling back in time. And that's the only trip that will truly save you money at the pump.

The Seward House. It's a museum. It's an event. It's green!
And it's all here!
