I have been working at Sensis for the past two years and it has been a wonderful learning experience. The numerous brilliant engineers that work at Sensis not only serve as a source of information, but provide career mentoring. Instead of the competition you may find between co-workers at some companies, at Sensis you discover a team effort that really makes you feel like part of a community.

I also feel like Sensis has provided me opportunities that I could not have received at another company. As my first job out of college, I did not expect to be able to have an impact on the company - due to my lack of experience - but on a daily basis, my ideas and suggestions are taken seriously.

My specific job is a systems engineer, and my responsibilities include ensuring that all of the technical requirements are met during system installation of highly technical air traffic control systems that ensure for safety of others. Not something that can be taken lightly! I also am involved with the initial design of the systems, where I work with other engineers with varying backgrounds to solve complex challenges related to the project. Again, the team effort comes in to play here – and we are constantly encouraged to speak up if we have a unique idea for improving a product. Sensis believes that just because it’s the “way it has been done” in the past it is not necessarily the best way – and it looks to its employees for new ideas and continual improvement.

The structure of the company and the way things are run really enables me to make an impact in each and every one of my tasks. I believe that is something very few people in the early stages of their career can boast. Other companies just don’t offer you that freedom to grow – and in turn, help the company to improve.
